Yeah I know. I'm just not gonna assume that we're welcome to show up to somebody else's ride, especially if I don't know the trail. Could be private.
Maybe one of the NCFJ guys [MENTION=90769]MadToy[/MENTION] or [MENTION=47269]Darklight[/MENTION] can fill us in.
Like I said, not our show...
Plus Johnny, if it's where I think it's gonna be (which is up around the mountains), it'd be a LOT longer haul for you get there than Gulches.

Well I am hoping that we won't see much rain/ice/snow friday or thursday night because it seems like that will shut down our Gulches trip. I guess we may have to reschedule. The ncfj guys are a very cool group of people. They're planning a trip for February 17th weekend this is also presidenst day weekend and it may be a little more crowded then normal. If this Saturday doesn't work out then some folks are planning to go to Richland Gap rd. This is a state service rd that links between the mountains of Boone and Lenoir NC. There is some sections of this trail that are private land but if you stay on the trail it should not be a problem. They're hoping it will be snowing and it more then likely will be but with icy road condtions it doesn't sound good to me. I guess we need to just play it by ear and see what the weather does. We can always reschedule our trip, I suppose. tear drops,,,,,

oh right on I just checked out the site for any upcoming rides. I see one about penley rd watauga NC area as well. It is private owned land though

That snowy trail sounds fun to me!!!!
The contingency for myself and Brian is to hit Richland Rd if the Gulches is called off this week. Several other NCFJ guys are also planning to hit that too. However, it's dependent on if it snows. If not enough snow, we're just gonna wait till the Gulches ride we have planned for 2/17 - which is open to anyone that wants to join.

haha I couldn't tell it was you without your avatar :cheers: my contingency is a pistol shooting match in my area this Saturday lol. (although its sad a trip to gulches would be cheaper)

I know the feeling man. Mines just about the only 5th gen ive seen in person that had more then running boards on it. I was pretty excited to see a group of built 4runners. I've only seen a handful of built 4unners, all gens included.
Lets get a big ride planned!!

Yeah, I've always gone on Sunday because you normally get the whole park to yourself. It's fun to watch big rigs though. Hopefully that event crowd thins out, but I'm thinking many will straggle behind and camp and what not. Shouldn't be too nuts though. I wonder what the event will do to the park conditions though?

it aint gonna rain. and if it does, its more fun. I went one time when it poured from fri-sun. no one in there but me, my friend with an 85 4runner, and my other buddy with his jeep...skip had the gate closed and locked. and we had the whole park to ourselves. it was the muddiest, most awesome weekend i can remember . . . even though im not a huge fan of the mud. sometimes its just awesome.
ALSO, a word for everyone: Skip can get in big trouble $$$$$ FINES $$$$$ if a State Trooper rolls down the road and sees mud all over the road leaving the park. so be sure to spray your vehicles down thoroughly before leaving. Im sure he will tell you guys that though.

all in all muddy or not if skip opens the gate we'll all have a good time meeting up and theres plenty of fun little obstacles that can be takin advantage of if the trails to washed out. I know I enjoy a good challenging slick trail so if it wines up being to crazy and you don't feel up to wheeling in it I've got 3 extra seats. Theres nothin better than a bunch of toyota gooru's hanging out an sharing stories.
