uwharries cool, the cops are out of their freakin element there though. Ive been through a roadblock everytime, and been breathalyzed, and theyve come to our camp site and harassed us as well. also, the washboard roads suck, and you gotta drive 20min to get everywhere in there.... just saying, gulches is way better.

Uwharrie is the national forest is right at Badin lake and lake tillery in NC theres a gas station we all meet at you can search for directions call "The Elderado Outpost" in troy county.

The Park at uhwarrie opens here in a few weekends we can go as early as the first weekend in april if you want. Its 5 dollars for a day pass 35 bucks for a season pass. season runs until next december.

Opening weekend is march 29th through the 31st. Its the "Uwharrie Jamboree" weekend I'll probably be out there with a few guys but I can't say its the best time for wheeling as theres a ton of people there.

but thats why I say the first weekend in april would be good which would be the 5th through the 7th.

Its a pretty awesome place they've got some good mileage of trails to spend time on and a few cool scenic views to stop and check out.

I can't deny gulches being awesome you drive in an the obstacles are right there waiting not many trail miles to ride to get to any fun spots.

with uhwarrie; however, The only times I've seen or dealt with the game wardens there is opening weekend and the fall jamboree as those are the crazy times when everyone's out there. During both the jamboree weekends ECROS test runs at the stables across the street from the outpost which is the drive for most of the people being out there. as well as why I usually make a stop there but i'm on about an hour away if i hit traffic so its not really an issue to wait a bit here an there for me also I typically camp out there so night rides and early morning treks arn't as crowded and you'll never really find many traffic jams on the back side of danials most people crowd kodak rock and dickey bell.

There both awesome parks with there own ups an downs. gulches cash in hand is a must unless you paypal the owner. uhwarrie is a bit cheaper to run certainly if you get a season pass and get out there about a couple weekends through the season. you'll find traffic jams at uhwarrie and have to pull off the trail for on coming traffic; however, you can turn around to get off a trail you can't handle. gulches is one way traffic so no having to pull off and let 30 jeeps ride by but at the same time if your own a trail your mostly committed to get through it as theres no turning around. its all give an take really.

What I’ve learned is that a bunch of meth heads go to URE, and a bunch of respectable people that pay to be at gulches go there. There’s actually courtesy at gulches, where as URE, can be pretty debatable. Ive personally run into the same officer about 5 times, and he seems to just love messing w me. So I’m not a fan of driving an extra couple hours just to go get harassed and get mutilated by the dust at URE

That URE dust IS brutal. I've never run into any cops there though. But yeah, I totally see your point Johnny. If I had to drive a lot further to get to URE than Gulches, it wouldn't even be a question. I'm fortunate enough to live equidistant between the two places and, as stated, they both have a few different things to offer, so it all depends on what's going on and what kind of mood I'm in that day. Opening weekend or Jamboree weekends though? You can always count me out. I'd rather just stand in line to get kicked in the balls and get it over with.

Yeah, Skip is great at Gulches, so I can only speak about his place. I've never run into trouble with other people there...very respectful & friendly.

I think i know the officer your talking about I can't remember his name but he's a dick for sure he's got an eye out for my buddy Cj to. Can't say I've spent time with any meth heads out there though haha. I've never met anyone at uhwarrie that wasnt ready to help anyone out though I hate to hear you've had bad experiences..

superman will tell you about some respect he got out of a driver from a recent trip to gulches lol they all have there ups an downs I love both parks equally so I'll defend either one to be an awesome place to spend time.

besides enough debating which park is better, they all have rocks and I'm ready to get overs some! lets plan a meet! I'm good all through april right now whens best for you guys to make it out gultches or uhwarrie or both in one weekend call it the east cost rally haha who knows lol

Every time i go to uWharrie i see lots of fresh beer cans all over the trail, so somebody is out there drinking and driving. I think its mostly the 4-wheeler crowd, which sure is a "different" bunch of folks.

dont get me wrong, i do slam some brews, but ive learned my lesson many times over with wheeling and alcohol. it only creates clouded judgement, dangerous situations, and you can triple the amount of broken parts youre going to discover when you do finally break something cause you had "the balls" to try something. and on top of all that, its illegal.

yall are just gonna have to decide and let me know. im the least flexible person ever, and always have something to do. and i sail almost every weekend in the summer regatta series in the charleston area....so im going to just try and make it work.

and im still trying to get my gears in. these freakin install kits are more than the damn gears!

yeah I saw that to be true looking for gears and lockers for my rig, It wound up being cheaper to have Drivetrain Specialists East Coast Gear Supply to build the entire front IFS housing and rear third member regeared with lockers. Plus they have a 5 year warranty on the carrier installs. Located in raleigh so shippings not killer in our areas.

yeah, but i already have the gears and am doing them myself. i just need one person to sling a deal on the install kits
