My thoughts exactly. I'm gonna read through the thread now, I was on my phone earlier. They say substantial indian artifacts were found on both sides of the trail.

I read through it this morning and there was no clear reason as to why exactly they closed. It was mentioned about the finding of the artifacts or whatever; however, the USFS is saying that the kodak rock trail on rockymountain loop needs a guard rail all the way down on the left side of the trail to keep the trail from getting wider. I could'nt find a clear answer as to why but uhwarrie has been known for closing trails for stupid reasons.
there was one trail closed because supposedly a bald eagle was "considering" to nest in the area. the trail closed, the eagles never nested lol and the trail is still closed.
luckily danials, the dutch john, dickey bell are all still open. Kodak rock is one of the favorites though it will be missed. Also they have a new lake view trail opening this year that could be cool I haven't heard much about it.

Guard rails need to be added on both sides of the trail, thanks to quad riders making illegal bypasses and widening the trail. Now artifacts have been found in the illegal bypasses. They say the trail can be reopened if the guard rails are finished. I don't have time to go up for a work day and help out. I'm going to be working 7 days a week before the end of this month.

well i can't go any time soon now because my rig has tons of issues that have just come to light. going to have to spend a good bit of money before she is good and trail worthy :cry2: :ybrick: :cry2:

i blew an axle seal, need to replace TPS, battery has a hole in it, need tires (badly) front left manual locking hub, front left wheel bearing, need shocks, just replaced the front left caliper and front pads (both sides obviously), front left rotor is all busted and chipped, AND i should probably replace my ball joints/cv's and everything else under the front clip lol. and i need to find my power steering leak. so not really trail ready for i while, unless i win the lotto... :Cry::Cry:
edit: all of this happened this week. all 4 tires grabbed a nail/screw sometime this month. battery came loose/ fell on pullys etc.. been a rough week for us.

who'd you order them from? thats a bit ridiculous..
I'm trail ready but I'm throwing my truck into the body shop next week to repair some body damage (seems pointless but nothing wrong with looking good on the trail lol).
Sunday I was driving through my parents neighborhood. It has a rather narrow street with two way traffic. I was coming into a sweeping left turn as a dark blue or black suburban type vehicle was coming out of the turn. They were in the middle of the narrow street that barely fits two vehicles side by side. So my choices were to hit them(police report IF they even were to stop), take out a mailbox or two(police report and property damage to file on insurance). or a strong attempt to thread the needle between them.
I was able to just barely squeeze through catching the door of a basic metal mailbox on a wooden post from the passenger headlight all the way back to the passenger taillight. mostly scratches; however three major dents and the passenger front door received a good 1/2" rippled crease. The on coming car of course, oblivious, continued to drive off probably finishing up typing a text bastards..
The paint on the vehicles on its last leg anyway and this claim will get the entire passenger side painted and faded into the hood. As well having a good friend that owns a body shop he's gonna hook me up while it's in there and clean up the driver side and spray the whole hood anyway. I'll be fresh and clean again, unfortunately though in doing this I'm certainly guaranteed trail damage you never can have anything nice these days lol.

lol sounds like marlin could have replaced their stock and you receive it sooner than the company that had it ready bummer dude. Hopefully you can get it in soon though!

Not that I've heard of. Maybe take the reigns and throw something out. See if you can generate some interest. [MENTION=65653]aha2988[/MENTION] and I hit up Uwharrie this past Sunday for the first time this season and had a blast.
I personally am trigger shy to try to organize any big group runs from the way the last one turned out. I just prefer a smaller crowd. I'd definitely put in the stipulation that if you or anybody you invite is a douche bag or has douche bag potential... Stay home. Ain't nobody got time fo dat!
My wheeling trips are also numbered with a 6 month pregnant wife, so I've got to enjoy them while I can.

I also prefer the smaller groups, the last one we did was perfect... and we organized it all on this thread. I think now that spring as hit we should start organizing another Gulches trip? Anyone have a preference? How about some of these dates?

I just don't have a date in mind. It makes things hard seeing as I'm working on getting a new job for when my school semester lets out.
I might be able to make the May 4th date seeing as I will be fresh out of the semester if that gives anyone time to go?
The only group ride I've done was with a huge group from ExPo so I don't know what a small ride is like. Which we did mostly forest service roads and nothing like what Gulches is.
I'd love to make a Uwharrie trip sometime, but I wish it wasn't a 5 hour drive.
