Spacer/lift question

Finally installed the daystar 2.5/1.5 on my 2012 Limited and not sure how I feel about it yet. Looking at options because 275/60 20s rub a bunch. I've seen the post about moving the fender liner forward, but not sure I understand it completely. Also, rear tops out over small bumps. Can I swap out the 1.5 rear spacer for a 1.5 coil? If so, any suggestions and where I might find them? At this point, looking to keep the XREAS intact. Thanks for the help.

I found posts on 1.5 rear coils from SAW that would be what you are looking for. Seems like quite a few people have experience with these coils.

If you are topping out swapping to a spring is not going to help. Its the shock that is topping out.

As far as rubbing on the front of the wheel well you will need to make a slit in the screw locations on the bottom them push it forward and re-tighten. Or you could just get the Dremel out and trim.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the spacer limited up (or maybe down) travel which results in the "bottoming out". There was a pdf floating around here that represented this, I thought. That's why I was wondering if swapping the spacer for a 1.5" coil would be better?

I just installed the same lift on my sr5 and for what it is I think its great. (more mall curb hopping than trail hopping) After install I would get a few clunks in the rear when going over speed bumps but its gone now and i can drive over them as I did before the install. Not sure if this was any help but just wanted to share my experience!

Topping out is the shock fully extending. Bottoming out is fully compressed. What you are doing when you lift on stock length shocks is place the ride height in a different part of the shock stroke. Lifting will reduce your down travel, AKA topping out. That is why some coilovers are extended travel to make up for the lift. You don't actually "gain" up travel. Again you are in a different part of the shock stroke so it seems as though you gain up travel.

Really? It just went away? Potholes and speed bumps seem brutal in the rear right now, I hope mine does the same. While I don't do any serious off-roading we do a considerable amount of mountain driving. Just not sure what to do.

Thanks for all the help so far, you obviously know more about the subject than I do. Are there any other options for me besides getting rid of the spacers or XREAS altogether?

I find it interesting that you are topping out in the rear. You really don't have much lift. Make sure your suspension isn't binding anywhere in the back.

As far as rubbing in the front I haven't researched how big your tires actually are. I would say start trimming.

I thought it was weird too, the other guy that replaced said his was the same but eventually went away. I was expecting some but not nearly as much as I am experiencing. What could be binding, any suggestions on what to look for? I'll check the spacer and make sure all looks good.
Tires are 33" in diameter but thinking of swapping out for 31.9" instead of the fender mod, we'll see.

did you do the install yourself? If not check to make sure they seated the spring properly. If its not seated in the right position that could be your noise maker. I did the install with my buddy who's a mechanic and when I checked his side he didn't seat the spring in the groove  Hope you get it resolved!!

I didn't do the install myself, paid to have it done. I'm thinking i'm swapping out the 275/60s for 275/55s to reduce the rubbing so when they pull the tires i'll have them double check the suspension. I hope something isn't seated right, cause it sounds like hell!

Getting rid of Xreas isn't a big deal, but there is cost... The rear SAW coils ride very well on road as well, at least with a bilstein shock.

That's what I've heard but mine is still under warranty so not wanting to mess with too much. Maybe at the end of our warranty I'll explore that as an option.
