Spacers on Top of Long Coils??

I am about to pull the trigger on some 9 wrap land cruiser coils for the rear. While I need more height and load resistance in the rear (always carrying heavy loads and sagging) I think it might put some serious rake on when unloaded.

I have a thought, stupid or not is yet to be decided.

Can I put a one inch spacer on top of front OME 882 coils? I carry an ARB, winch, hi-lift, V-6 and soon a second battery in the front, so I do compress the 882s.

I would then use a one inch diff drop and long travel inner cv boots to help out with CV angle issues.

Not sure if this is really possible, not sure yet if I will need to (need to see how it turns out with the LC coils installed)

Okay, change of idea

driving to work after posting this, I realized that If I compress the OME 882's anymore inside the assembly they will be way, way stiff.

So my thought has changed to top plate spacers like this one:

I know it's not much, but it would add a little more height.

I am going to keep searching for larger top plate spacers.

the top plate is doable, i'd only recommend it though if you've changed struts as well. stay away from the 1" or anything bigger

seems like you are attacking the problem from the wrong end. If I were you I would use a heavy duty spring in the rear such as the 891, which won't sag much when loaded, and if you need more height install a spacer on the rear to get the desired rake. 882's with a topout spacer will result in way to much droop from what I've read about them, especially with the OME shocks in the front unless you install limiting straps.

I see what you are saying, but I already have 891's in the back. They still sag when camping/wheeling. I really just need to see what happens after I try out the LC coils. Maybe they will be fine. I don't mind some rake anyway, it will help me see over the hood better!

sounds like 892's would actually be better for you in the rear. The LC coils have softer springrates than the 891's. Thus, you will get more sag when towing

I have the LC 9-wrap coils in the back and they are more than stiff enough. Remember, these springs are for the FRONT of a LAND CRUISER. I'm sure that's more weight than you will ever load into the back of your 4Runner.

Well I picked up my LC coils today. They are either 7 or 8 wrap, depending on which side you are looking at to count them. I think I am going to stick them in this weekend, so I will know if the front is too low (in comparison) soon enough.

I was thinking this:

If my CV angles are okay with my 882's as is, then they would be about the same with a 1/4" spacer on top and a 1" diff drop. Seems the two would equal out in terms of CV angle.

Man I wonder how my 265's are going to look after the LC coils go in, tiny? Everyone I see on here who has them is running 285...

Do you have an aftermarket bumper and winch? My 882 front might be lower than yours due to the extra weight.

you'll LOVE the LC coils. The front should be at about the same hight as mine. I think your stance will be very very similar to mine. And you will be very happy once you pack up for the next trip and you're leveled out.
