spark plug wire help

Can anyone tell me which cylinders each plug wire goes to. To be more specific, the 3.4L has 3 wires 1-long, the other 2 are close but off about an inch. My question is which 2 cyl. should the long one go and which does the medium go and so on. Its gotta matter right?

Also, look at the wires. Mine had the numbers on them.

Or mark the 3 wires coming off where they go and then lay all 3 out and match the new ones to the old ones.

What ive always done is change them one at a time(on any vehicle).. so take off any necessary parts from each side before starting

that works or what ive done is get some cheap white or blue painters tape and everything i disconect i wrap a little tape around and on the cylinders tape in front and a sharpie....works wonders....lol more of a technique ive adopted, as add and tons of small parts is a nightmare....

Lol, I can't help but smile on the advise. You guys are all right. Let me start over. I have always done my own wrenching ever since I could drive, "dad would'nt have it any other way" so I'm guessing I've probably changed my plugs and wires I'd say 5 times since I've owned my 4runner. They probably didn't need changing that often but its cheap maintenance. I was changing them today and they just didn't seem like they were routed correct. I did put them where the old ones were matching lengths on each wire one at a time. Then I started to wonder, what if one of the times I was changing them I had one to many or got side tracked and got them switched? Not to the cylinders but the lengths. The long one for the short or what have ya. That's what my question meant. I dont know if it matters which length wire you use, or does it? The resistance is going to change with each length.
I don't know. Just throwing it out there see if anyone knew.
By the way that diagram above is great that did help with the routing.★★★★★ Thanx bro. To me it looks like pink is the long but on my rig its the green 1.

I thought mine had numbers too but no such luck.

My bad....I personally don't know and I never tried interchanging or mixing the two close length plug wires myself. I do believe each wire has their specific place and even the slightest discrepancy in order could have an effect on the firing. The worst that could happen is a misfire and an engine shudder IDK.

Sorry to resurrect this but I just wanted to see if someone could confirm something. According to the diagram it appears that the longest wire would go from 3 to 6, the 2nd longest would be from 5 to 2, and the shortest would go from 1 to 4. Has anyone noted that was the case on their rig? I did my wires yesterday and replaced them one at a time but the new ones weren't exactly the same length as the old ones so it was a bit of a guessing game. I also couldn't figure out how to route them in the clips so this is really helpful. Seemed like I had too much slack in spots.

The lengths you listed are correct.
