Is that a rate you've personally observed or is it just a generally accepted number? What does that that translate to in mileage?

Not calling BS or anything, just curious. That'd be kind of an interesting science project.

I'm pretty sure that number came out of a FSM. I've used it as a reference so long I forget where it came from. I'm pretty sure it was based on average milage too say 12,000 miles per year or so. As a note I wore out a set of copper core Autolites in the CJ7 in about 2 years and 10,000 miles. But I run a MSD6 ignition. So it sparks the plug 5 times per combustion cycle.

I put 137,000 on my second set of Denso's. I've got 70k on the current set and it's starting to run rough again. At 320k it could be any number of things as everything on the engine is original. Just hoping its plugs.
