Spark removal on '98 3.4v6 passenger side?

He is talking about a black box that looks like part of the air intake. I have read it is not that hard to remove that stuff, but I had not done it yet.

Ok what are the little black boxes that are bolted to the valve covers? They are in the picture that peter78 posted just below the air intake duct there are three I assume they are covering the spark plug boot, I know I need a picture but the wife is driving it at the moment I'm guessing that they can be removed with a 10mm socket and those are the spark plug boot? I just haven't seen anything like that before on a valve cover, thanks for your patience and willingness and knowledge.

Another thing...
I noticed on your thread that you noted using denso and ngk, I went to toyota and they gave me 6 Denso k16tr11 and since I changed the driver side only I can't say what is in the passenger side but that is what I removed from the driver so could you shed some light on that for me please?

NGK was bought out by Denso so there are no more NGK in production atleast not in this part of the world and if you haven't changed the plugs in your truck which it seems as though some of you haven't then shame on you, beause this could have been answered by someone who has actually done the task in one sentence or perhaps the 98 models are different , thanks for your thoughts and advice!

Educating yourself is the best way to learn!
BTW, so...what were you waiting for?? Why didn't you just look for yourself?? I mean...i gave you the instructions on HOW TO...it looks like someone is too darn lazy and now shifting blame to someone else??!!
Would you like for me to call a Toyota mechanic to come over to your house to show you how to pop open your hood???!!

I thought you listing the time it took to do wasn't exactly a "how to" and if you would have said remove the coils since that is what those mystery boxes are and behold you will find the spark plug boots then you might of had something.... I had done all the looking what I needed was an illustration or some pics which I've had problems posting, perhaps you have a how to on that. I'm still not sure what terminology spark plug covers are... but you are correct in saying that self educating is best and I plan on doing a how to with pics to show that the coils have to be removed per plug. Could you send a mechanic to atleast set the torque wrench for me and maybe wipe my brow, maybe one of those Snap-on calendar girls?
I wasn't blaming anyone I just thought If you had done the job you would remember Oh yeah those are the coils, not your typical coil with all six spark plug wires plugged into a distributor cap, but three seperate coils wired into the fuel injector/ fuel rail. Perhaps my question wasn't clear and I can't hold that against anyone with out a pic. I still have enjoyed this forum and have learned a lot from this site it's just oddd that know one knew that I was talking about the coils, whihch is what I thought they were initially. Thanks for the discussion and look forward to chatting again soon, Happy Valentines Day!

Hmmm, is that why the 4runner engine is DISTRIBUTOR-LESS??!! I believe that this information is written in the owner's manual. It's also written clearly in the 3rd gen 4runner's brochure. I thought it was common knowledge...with you, i stand corrected.
Your question was not clear. Short of a picture, i believe that you did get appropriate instructions. It is unfortunate that you have to be angry & sarcastic with someone who is trying to HELP you over the internet. Do you know the word, "INGRATE"??!! You should look it up.
Now, just go out and do it!
