Spark Socket help?

I'm in the process of changing out my spark plugs but running into a 'too' problem. I just wanted to check to see if I got the right thing.

I have a 5/8" spark plug socket (3/8" drive) and a universal extension (3/8" drive). When I take out the spark plug, it's stuck into the spark plug socket. I have to really yank it out. If I try to yank it out hard, the spark plug socket and extension come apart. Both parts are by Gear Wrench.

Am I using the correct spark plug socket (5/8?)? It's a 6 point socket - maybe thats why it kinda sux?

The size is correct. There's a rubber insert inside the spark plug socket that "grips" the spark plug and helps prevent breaking the ceramic insulator on the spark plug.

I would suggest getting electrical tape and wrap (like a base ball bat or bike handle bar) the extension and spark plug socket to keep them from coming apart.

Thanks. I ended up returning it and purchased a extended swivel socket. For some reason, it worked much better. Oh, and it also helped that it was magnetic (peace of mind).
