Spilled a sprite on the middle console..

My buddy spilled a drink in my car and it got into the transmission area and though I cleaned it thoroughly, the shifter still sticks just enough to piss me off. What should I do to make it go back to normal?

I know how to get in the but I don't know what I should clean the transmission with. Any opinions?

I don't think that it got *in* the transmission. If the shifter is sticking, pull out the center console and just wipe it down with water. If that doesn't work get some dish soap and scrub at it and then rinse it off.
