Spindle Gussets "Lite" ?

I'm familiar with the weld-on spindle gussets sold by a few different companies. They all seem to use a similar design which is a long piece of angle iron that stiffens the entire spindle from the UBJ down to the hub. I understand that if you're doing serious hardcore wheeling that can be a big advantage.

Does any one sell, or has anyone made for themselves, a "lite" spindle gusset that just props up the UBJ flange? It seems to me that is the critical weak point that can actually break and fail.

Interested to see how others are thinking about this mod. Thanks!
