Split CV shaft boots

Hello all, I just noticed that both of my front end CV shaft boots are both split in half, I am assuming that this is a common problem. What is the recommendation, have the boots changed, or replace the right and left CV half shaft assy?
2003 V8 limited
I looked on Rockauto.com looks like they have a set (right and left) for $122. shipping included

The easiest way is to just buy the replacement half shafts. The cheapest way it to buy a boot kit and clean, repack the joints and replace the boots. That is as long as your joints are still good and you haven't ran them dry.

Just replaced mine last month, boot was dry rotted and split

i did the rock about halfshaft with heavy duty boots (they are definately thicker)

I was told by the dealership that both of my CV boots are torn. They want $700+ to replace them, so I figured I'd take a look into doing them myself. I was looking at rockauto, but which half shafts would I need? Do you have a part number for the ones your ordered? I have an 06 SR5 V6 4x4.

Picked up 2 cv half shafts at $110.00 each, got them installed for $185.00
After taxes my total was about $430. ( lifetime warranty)
