Spring vs. Spacer

I'm currently running Icon +2" springs in the rear. I'm debating if I want to swap out for the +3" version or just add a spacer. Thoughts?

These buzzards circling aside, are you just trying to get more height or carrying extra load? I'm looking at replacing my rear springs for more height, but it's because of the added weight in the rear. I'm level now so want capacity to carry stuff without reverse rake. :ballchain:

So you're happy with your current unloaded height, but not happy after you load out, plus you're adding a bumper.

If all the load is temporary the go-to option would be air bags. Adjust them as needed based on current load.

But you're adding a bumper, which is permanent. For permanent load a spacer will technically work to raise you back up, but it may be too soft and you may bottom out easier. A better solution would be a stiffer spring of the same length. But if your temporary load is significant, the ride will either be too stiff unloaded or too soft loaded. Again, a medium stiff spring for the bumper plus air bags for the extra stuff is the go-to.

The best solution would be the Icon +3 dual-rate spring. Part of the spring is soft giving a good ride unloaded. Loaded up the soft portion stays compressed and the stiffer portion takes over. The +3 Icon spring gives the added benefit of more downward travel/articulation assuming your shocks and links can handle it.
