Sprint Booster

Just got mine in a couple days ago. Installation is pretty quick.
Huge improvement over stock. Right now Sport 6/7 and Race 5 seem to be the settings I like. Race 5 is pretty aggressive so most likely I'll be using sport 6 or 7 day to day.

Ordered from Jason and he was easy to work with and his response time was very quick when I had a question.

I like sport 9 for day to day and race 5 for highway usage. You really have to learn to just feather the pedal when using race 5. You can feather the pedal and get normal acceleration but have a very responsive pedal if you should need it.

Are there any long term users of the Sprint Booster that have had any isuues? I'm thinking about switching.

One of the first mods I purchased and used was the Pedal Commander back when I bought my 2017 4Runner. I really loved the improved throttle response and that I was able to change the setting on the fly. I used that for about 2 years I think without any issues until the truck threw a code. I dont remember the exact code it threw, but I cleared it and uninstalled the PC. Till this day the truck has never threw a code again. But I really do miss the throttle response and was thinking of reinstalling the PC now after adding a few more mods to the truck which added more weight. But also thinking that I should not, since I dont know if the PC was what caused the code. I do like the features of the SB especially being able to disconnect it after setting it up.

I know this is an old thread. I have a 2015 4Runner Limited 4wd with 68,000 miles, a real garage queen. I installed a Sprint Booster in 2019 when the truck had around 30,000 miles and loved the difference in pedal feel. Recently was noticing when you eased off the gas, the truck would actually speed up for a split second then start slowing down and then easing back onto the gas was kind of jerky. Also the transmission was shifting into some gears harder than it should. After servicing the tranny with a fluid drain and refill, cleaning the throttle body, cleaning the MAF sensor, axle lubes etc, there was no change. Got to thinking about the Booster and decided to just turn it off. I never installed the controller, just set it up and forgot about it. So turned it off, disconnected the battery for awhile then drove the truck. It was so smooth I couldn't believe it, jerkiness and hard shifts gone, pedal response was okay. Decided to unhook it permanently and drove the truck some more. Shifts so smoothly I can't believe it, all back to normal. Don't know if my Booster is worn out or what but I'm going to leave it uninstalled for now. Hoping this thread may help somebody troubleshooting their Runner.

Am I the only one who left it sitting coiled up under the dash? I just set it and forget it.

When do you all change modes? When towing? Another time?

No, you don't have to install the controller. If you don't, the unit is pre-set to the higher setting automatically. Now, there are benefits to have the controller hooked up. They are the valet and pedal lock features. Valet mode lets you set a certain rpm, say 3,500 and the truck will not go over that RPM. Saves people from joy riding that may have you car when it's at the shop, etc. Pedal lock lets you lock out the gas pedal. Say someone got your keys or tried to steal the truck. If they get it started, the pedal is fully disabled and they can't go anywhere! I had a customer who was pilot with a 16 yr old daughter... Everytime he went out of town, she would find the keys (after he hid them) and take the truck out with her friends. This happened multiple times. He bought the booster so this couldn't happen anymore. That's not really the reason to buy one, but it definitely gives much more security. I use it if I'm in a hotel or amd parked at an airport for peace of mind.
