SR5 17" Wheels on Limited

Everyone,

I'm about a week away from taking delivery of a 2012 Limited 4Runner, and I wanted some feedback regarding wheels. Basically, I want feedback from Limited owners who've installed the stock 17" wheels from an SR5. How much better/worse is the ride quality? Do you regret, or are you happy, with your decision.

There are a ton of wheel/tire threads on this forum, and yes, I did a search. Snooperstyle answered a lot of the questions I had in this one: Ride Quality Difference -- Limited vs. SR5

However, he seemed to have fairly aggressive A/T tires on the 17's. Not sure I would go quite that aggressive. If I keep the 20's, I'm probably looking at the 275/55/20 Nitto Terra Grapplers. Not sure if I install the 17's -- maybe some Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmors (had them on a previous vehicle).

I'm not really interested in putting aftermarket wheels on the Limited, as I prefer the stock appearance.

Also, this site is awesome -- very informative.

I had the dealership switch my LTD wheels/tires with an SR5 when I took delivery in Feb 2010, so I don't have an opinion as to ride quality. My reasoning was at the time, there were 10x more tire options for 17" 265/70 than the stock 20s. I don't do much off-roading, so I put on a set of Michelin LTX MS/2 and never looked back.

I have a black/black limited on order that should be here in 2-3 weeks. I'm switching out and going to either the 275/55/20 or 285/55/20 terra grapplers. Worried a tad about rubbing on the 285. Putting them on the Addict rim by XD.

My biggest concerns with the Nittos on the stock 20s is that they're rated for a 7.5" rim, and the Limited has a 7". I realize many have done this, but it still worries me a little bit.

Ordered the 275/55/20 Nittos

Just spoke to the guy at Discount Tires, and he said there shouldn't be a problem at all installing the 275/55/20 Nittos. I went ahead and had them order some.

He did say they tried fitting a different tire in the same size on a Limited earlier in the week, and they didn't fit -- had to go down to 275/45. He didn't mention the brand.

EDIT: And they're giving me a trade-in credit. :D

You need to confirm but I'm pretty sure the 17" SRS wheels are also 7". The Trails are 7.5"

Was there any cost to you, or did you negotiate them into the sale?

I negotiated it as part of the sale, and didn't have to pay anything out of pocket (nor was anything listed on the receipt for it either.)

The odd thing is that I now get post cards and emails about service on my 2010 SR5...but I have a Limited. Oh well.
