I am looking for parts and stuff on my 86 4 runner and some of them need ot know if it is SR5 or not. Anyone know how to tell? I did some searching, but didn't find any way to tell on my truck.
SR5 Or DLX or Both or what?

insurace card will tell ya. vin# is a another way.
Does it have a tach? in firts gens most runners w/a tach are SR5's.

Mine does have a Tach. But it doesn't say SR5 anywhere. Where on my insurance card?

SR5- had tach and clinometer is different it has 4WD in orange also the seats are a dead give away with sr5 written all over them. but all the items mentioned could have been swapped the VIN is the best way to tell. there is a website that you can type the vin in and it will tell you if its a sr5 i cant remember the site but a google search for it should be good.

Sorry, i keep seeing this word "clinometer"... Not sure of its meaning. My title doesn't say SR5 anywhere... it says 4runner RN60... Does that mean it isn't an SR5 then?

I personally don't care at all. I was looking at Instrument clusters to buy and it mattered then i guess. I just looked at what i had and bought one that looked exactly like it. Snagged a full tach and everything for 65. That is why it mattered to me, other than that, i don't care. lol. I personally would think it weird if this truck had power windows... Who would ever use power windows in a truck with Triangle vents and a back window down? Man it is great (except on Gravel) lol

i think the SR5 on the lot came with all options and a paint scheme but back then you could always order everything in your truck but now the sr5 means you only get some stuff for 5,000$ more and you cant get them otherwise.lol

Not necessarily, RN60 is a model code for a 4 cyl swb (1st gen solid axle 4runner), nothing to do with trim package.

...Don't forget if you upgrade to the tach cluster you have to upgrade the oil sending unit or you will blow out your new unit.
I had an '88 DLX that was pretty stripped. Graphite bumpers and no body trim. I now have an '89 DLX that has a complete chrome package yet vinyl mats and roll up windows. You could order various upgrades. I have vinyl seats but I remember they were pushing the cloth/carpet upgrade.

I had a Tach before so i shouldn't have to do anything right? Just plug and play?

The clinometer was a dashtop mounted gauge panel that shows front/rear (incline) and side/side (tilt) angles. Highly sought after but pretty useless.
When you're on a bad enough angle that you're about to flop over, you really don't care if it's 37 degrees or 40 degrees or whatever. You just want to get the seat cover out of your butt crack when you're through.
