SR5 vs Trail - difference in ride?

Considering a 4runner and I like the look of the Trail. I will off-road only 5% and wondering how much of a difference there is in the ride between the Trail and other models (SR5, Limited).

Also, could an SR5 be mod to look more like a Trail?

Ride is identical between SR5 and TE except in KDSS equipped TE models which handle more crisply. It's very noticeable.

LE's have the nicest ride on their stock thin tires.

You CAN modify an LE or SR5 to look like a TE, but all the bits are expensive as hell and you might as well have just bought the TE.

If you are looking for an 4runner that looks like a trail and handles like an SR5, I think your cheapest option is to look for a base model TE w/o KDSS. Trying to add on all the TE trim after the fact is probably going to cost you more than just buying the TE to begin with, lol.

IMHO, I think the TE with KDSS handles a lot better. I've been able to swerve to avoid problems without feeling like I was going to roll. It's worth every penny to me.

My SR5 has Bilsteins and premium P-rated tires, which have improved the stock handling. I recently test-drove a KDSS TE and it is a better-planted, more controlled driving experience, which I preferred over mine. I also very much like the style of the TE, and would have traded but could not get the deal I wanted.

How's the handling compare to the Limited? A truck cut me off and I had to swerve at 70mph, I felt it want to roll only once and it straighten out. Scared the hell out of me, but the truck's suspension saved the day, I like to think.
