Starter differences?

Looks like they are a different part # and photos on rock auto. They list a "standard Trans" and an " Automatic Trans".

edit: gee whiz, looks like the the Auto version is stronger at 1.8KW vs 1.4KW for the manual version.

This is correct. I don't see why you could not use the larger one on a 5-speed rig. Toyodiy.com lists the 1.8kw as an alternate for my 5-speed '99 3.4L if equipped with "cold-weather package" which I don't have. Mine has the small one.
 
Hmmm...now I wonder why 1.8K starter for auto and 1.4K starter for manual?
Same 3.4L compression, same 3.4L rotating mass and accessories regardless of transmission type.
Torque converter heavier than a manual trans flywheel?

Turns out they are the same, I was just looking into something WAY more than I needed to and missed the obvious.
