Starter issue

Alright guys I bought mynew 4runner a few weeks and started up fine, but this week it didnt and just started to click and click. So my immediate solution to this was the starter. The previous owner told the me the starter was new, so I change the ignition switch out for a new one and still it clicks. I then take off the starter and find out that the male end connector on the starter will not fit the female connector on the harness. It was modified with a blue wire. I took the starter to autozone to get tested and it was good. So did the previous owner have the wrong starter on?? I also ordered the "rebuild kit" from toyota to switch out the contacts and tested the battery and it was good. I've searched, but did not find anyone else having this issue.

Thanks,
Josh

Didn't you say the harness was modified with a blue wire? I thought you'd answered your own question, there.

My starter has a socket with a male spade connector, and the harness is a black wire with a plug containing a female connector. Hope that helps.

This is how it was modified
