Don't know about where you live but up here I think it's illegal (not sure) to leave your hitch on when you arent using. Not only that but I know someone that left their hitch on and someone walking by must have hit their shin on it because they pulled the hitch off and then threw it through the back window of the guys truck.

Much safer to have a hitch step that someone isn't going to smack their shin on, the hitch step also looks much nicer.

It's locked in place and not for looks. There's one on the Hundy and 4Runner. It will destroy any car that hits it.

Here are a couple pics of the underside of the Bull Bar, showing the bottom of the skid plate. It does not really extend under the truck. You should have no issue with any other skid plate.

Bear in mind when you mount lights on the bull bar they are the first contact with the other guys rear bumper.

Just bought and installed mine, I got it from Jegs for $144 shipped.

Overall I am pretty happy, but my only complaints are

1. They now use a 2 point design, not 4 like the old design
2. The skid plate isn't a skid plate, it is decorative sheet metal.

Still happy with it though, pics to follow soon.

Can someone post some pics of where EXACTLY this mounts to the truck? I have some concerns with frame rust, but I would like to add a bull-bar and I need to know where this mounts.

Pics would be really helpful - I don't know if my comp just isn't bringing up the pics, but I can only see pics in the first post.

Hey guys.

Ive ben searching threads and looking at pictures all weekend to decide which is the best bull bar i can put on my 08 Sport Edition V8. So far this is what im getting out of what ive read:

1) Decide between Westin or Steelworks (leaning towards Steelworks).

2) Westins "rock" or "bounce" a bit, irritating the driver-owners.

3) Steelworks USED TO BE a 4-point bolt-on design, but now is a 2-point, which is dissapointing some people.

Id like a powdercoated bar, to match the step-bars and roof rack, but i dont want any lose bar or bounce in the front. I had a Smittybuilt back in the early 90's and that bar ALWAYS got a little loose and would clunk and bonk lean forward, not staying plum on a vertical level.

The Smitty also started to rust from the inside. The ends of the pipe were capped with some plastic plugs, and I saw rusty water leaking from them after a year or so. Normal or not, i didnt like it.

You guys that have the Steelworks, are you happy with it? Any of you have the 2-point bolt-on design? Any sign of it coming loose? movement?
