Steering Rack Refresh

I have quite a bit of play in my steering rack. Based on my search, it seems like the Energy Suspension Steering Rack Bushing Kit should fix this. I already found the write-ups and such...just wanted confirmation that this should solve my problem. Here's a video of the rack play:

Also, this next video is of my outer tie rod. Should I be able to rotate it like that? It does this on both sides. I also have some sort of leak. Should I be concerned with that also?

Wow, that is alot of play in those bushings. I would upgrade with the energy kit or similar. I did it with mine, its pretty easy, don't need to take the rack out. The leak is more the issue. There are seals way back in there, but I can't sit here and recommend that trying to replace those is a better way to go other than getting a reman'd steering rack. And yes, the tie rods are able to twist like that.

I replaced my steering rack and tie rods and still have free play. From Japanese Truck Dismantlers I bought the rod/coupler that goes from the steering wheel down to the rack but my local mechanic thinks the play is elsewhere 'up in the steering wheel area.' Once I get it back to them I'll post my findings.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid of having to plunge $$$ into a rack replacement. Think I'll go for the bushings for now.
