Steering wheel cancer

That's a lot of money on a ticking time bomb, leather steering wheel. My base model has a vinyl steering wheel and other that the top becoming smooth, it looks brand new.

Yeah, trade for the Explorer...instead of the steering wheel falling apart, you can have a VEHICLE that falls apart. Much more fun that way!

The problem with the rubber wheel is that it isn't leather. It's not bad if you don't mind a wheel that feels more at home in a 98' Corolla than a 98' 4Runner. Reupholstering isn't that crazy in terms of pricing for a steering wheel. They might even be able to make the wheel thicker. The 2-spoke wheel usually wears better and seems a little thicker than the 4-spoke wheel if you don't mind the look.

How thick does this make the wheel? I hate added steering wheel covers because they make the wheel so girthy...and I am just not used to that

I bought it but haven't installed it yet.
I hazard a guess it won't add more than 1/8" of thickness, probably less

sorry I didnt get back to you quicker, I just saw the notification.
It doesnt add much girth. I hate that also. If it is sewn on tight with the edges drawn together you wont even notice that its on the wheel.

I swapped in a 2001 Corolla s steering wheel. I'm very happy with it. Airbag plugged right in too. Here is my build thread:
