Sticking Gas Pedal!

onight on my way home from big bear my gas pedal got stuck 4 seperate times at full throttle. it happenned when i was going slow like 20mph and would accelerate to get on the freeway and the pedal would stick at full throttle without my foot even on at all, so i would have to put my foot under the pedal and pop it back. i tried gunning it while at freeway speed and it would not do it, it would only stick at full throttle when i would be accelerating from 20mph or so. i pulled over and checked to see if something was getting stuck under it, but there was nothing even remotely close to the pedal, i have the weather tech floor liners and there is a huge cutaway where the pedal is and i do not have the stock floor mates underneath so thats not a factor either, its the weirdest thing. i would also try pushing down on the pedal with my hand and it wouldnt stick at all, only when actually driving.

anyone have a clue what i should do and what may be causing this?

How many flour mats you have?
Are your flour mats hooked properly?

I had this happen in an older Ford Taurus and it was the throttle sensor, I can't remember the exact name for it but it behaved very similar. When accelerating hard it would get stuck at full throttle and was very hard to unstick. The 2 times that it happened before I got it to the shop damn near killed me.

My suggestion: Go easy on the throttle and get it to a dealer or any competant mechanic and have them check it out.

Ditto on that for me and my old Ford Exploder. Mechanic replaced sensor but Ford dealer had to do diagnostic and computer bullcrap so itd work right.

Back when I went Mudding on New Years...my gas pedal got stuck as well. Since I was panicking, I couldn't tell if it was stuck or if it was stuck underneath my Weathertech Floor Liner.

Good thing I was at an enclosed park at Prarie City.

I have the weather tech floor liners also and if you take a closer look you'll noticed there is a big cut out so it doesn't interfere With the pedal. Was that the only time it's ever happenned?

You are absolutely correct on the big cut out...but at my moment, the Floor Liner actually shifted forward, that's why I'm unsure if it was the Floor Liner or gas pedal sticking.

It only happened that one time...so glad it didn't occur again.

Very good to know that it hasn't happened again for yourself.
