Stock 2014 Trail offset?

Anyone know the mm offset of stock 17x7.5", 2014 Trail wheels? Doing the math puts me at +28.575 mm. Can that be right? 7.5" wheel puts the centerline at 3.75", 4.875" backspace according to wheel figment guide here on forum so the difference is 1.125" positive offset converting to 28.575 mm.

So, doing the math further to compare to the aftermkt wheels I am considering, which are available in either a - or + 12mm offset causes me to be concerned with fit even with stock size tires. It is a 17x9 wheel which in the + gives a 5.39" backspace, .515" > stock. Tire rack says the +12 is the one that fits but seems the extra 1/2" would be getting the tire close to that UCA.
Conversely, the -12 would definitely have fender issues with the outside when turning sharp given it has just shy of 2" more out from the hub surface compared to stock.

I believe the trail wheels are +15mm.

Seems I read somewhere in here that anything over 5" of total backspacing would get into clearance problems with the struts and springs. I mounted 17x8's with 4 1/2" backspace on mine, and with stock size tires I have a rub on the left front in reverse at full lock to the right. But mine will obviously go away with the front fender mod once I do it. And I do like the way it pushed the sidewall out into the flares more.

Thanks, that pic helps a bit. But I would have 1 more inch of rim width that would divided between a little more backspace and a good bit more outside width. Hmmm The thought process continues.

On a good note, I mounted my sliders today. They definitely look better in person than any pictures I had seen of them. Had intentions of hitting up some dealerships to sell some given the supply problem Toyota is having with rigid running boards but my company would have to get about $950 per set for powder coating & install. Definitely a do it yourself kinda mod.

In all honesty when I ordered those Black Rock wheels I thought I was getting 17x9's (oldfartedness kicking in). In hindsight and re-reading your first couple posts I realize I only gained 1/2" in total width on the wheels. But with the 4.5" backspace it was overall moved OUT a total of 7/8" (.875), or 1 3/4" across each axle. So visually it looks a lot wider than it did before. I can tell you on mine there is still about 1 1/4" available before the sidewall is even with the top outer edge of my flares. But I wasn't actually going for that much change. I still wanted most of my tread to be enclosed in the main fender. And just that 7/8" gained did cause me to have a rub on the left front. So after all was said and done I'm happy I only got the 8" wide wheels. Obviously your project may have different requirements. I'm just telling you my actual experience. :becky:

Yes sir, appreciate the reply!

Bump: Anyone have confirmation on stock wheel offset? Is there any difference in SR5 or Trail for 2014?

I'm on the fence on a couple different wheels for my inbound 14 SR5 and I'd really appreciate anyone that can share some insight.

Your calc is off. Add 1" to get wheel face to face distance vs advertised width, which is bead to bead. The centerline for a 7.5" wheel is 4.25". The trail wheel has about a +16mm offset. Look for wheels with ~4.5" backspacing as a safe range for most tires 285s.... Offset is a relative measurement (usually mm), while backspacing is an exact measurement (usually in.). You can calculate one from the other, but remember to add 1" to the advertised width.
