Can you guys post pics and give a description of your rigs with "Stock suspension" setups and aftermarket wheel/tire combos? The 5th gen pic thread is massive with a lot of stock trucks... what tire setups fit without rubbing issues? will 275/70r17 work well on 17x8 rims providing the backspacing is 4.5" or so? Has anyone been able to fit 16" wheels without grinding away at the brake caliper?

has anyone tried taller/skinnier tires, say a 255/75r17 (bfg mt or nitto mt) or 255/80r17 (km2)?

the 255/75r17 measures 32.1" tall, 10" wide

the 255/80r17 measures 33.1" tall, 10" wide

I was going to start a new thread on this but might as well just add on... I have a 2010 SR5.

I just bought some studded Duratracs (265/70/17) as a winter set and have a couple options here.

1) I put them on the stock tires and hope they don't rub. Will they? If they do, will a 1" level in the front be enough?

2) I put them on some aftermarket rims but this seems to bring on more headaches and a higher lift. With an 8" width, what offsets will NOT have the wheels poking out? Likewise with a 9" width. Most 17" aftermarkets seem to be 9" unfortunately.

Bottom line, this is a work truck and I don't give a crap about getting it lifted to look cool or heavy duty offroading. Duratracs are amazing tires and I want to do what is needed to fit them correctly with the least amount of modification.

Those tires are just slightly smaller than my 20's (tho taller sidewall) and i have no rubbing.

255/80r/17 would be 33.1" you would get rubbing with this size with or without a lift.With a lift you would still need to do some trimming.

Ok gotcha. I figured it was the width that was giving an issue with rubbing. Guess ill stick to stock size until I take the "lift" plunge
