I know there are many stereo threads, but I can't find the specs of the stock stereo (base model). I just bought a 2004 4R (only 71k miles!), and want to upgrade the HU and the front door speakers, but don't want to spend a lot on an 11 year old truck. I just want to know what I'm actually replacing while I'm shopping.
As for what to buy, I'm pretty old school, since I haven't owned a modern vehicle in a long time. I think I want to try one with inputs for a backup camera, and I definitely want to be able to hear my iphone songs (Bluetooth or AUX jack?). But, I don't need Nav (I have a new Garmin), don't need DVD, don't need Sirius (or anything like that).
I figure a $300-400 for a HU and $250-300 for a pair door speakers (separates), but I have never installed a stereo using only the HU for power. I'm trying to keep things simple, because I live in NYC, and don't have a garage... don't feel like ripping out the interior trying to hide wires and amps.
Anyway, anyone know the specs? My stock HU says 86120 on it.
