Stolen Catalytic Converter

I would be extremely interested to know what you decide to do. If I thought this was a random act, I would certainly put it back to original spec. Since it is only going to happen again and again, I am very reluctant to go that route.

Zero hassle from USAA on getting an OEM replacement.

I'm not planning on going to any extraordinary measures to protect the replacement, though.

Update for my stolen cat:

It was replaced at the USAA-recommended shop, using an aftermarket cat, total cost was $575.

The aftermarket cat is California-compliant, and they even have it guaranteed/warrantied for replacement if it does not pass smog next time through.

The shop offered some protective welded bars to protect against theft for $85, too.

I'll post a photo of the new setup here soon.

The good news, at least that I learned in Ohio, is that the aftermarket converters only fetch about $10 at the scrap yard. If a thief steals one, it is it is their first day and he doesn't know what they are doing.

A bonus to this whole thing, either my factory converter was getting clogged or the aftermarket converter is much freer flowing because I have noticeably more power.

I have had to installed with no issues at all
