I got the pre-sewn version. It is going on my daughter's Corolla which is in Salvador, Brazil. Brazilian sun eats up car leather. My experience in Toyota part databases let me match the steering-wheel p/n to a US model Corolla so I know we have the right kit. (Toyota builds Corollas in Brazil.) Our installation strategy is to hire the local guy who fixes shoes and luggage and have him make a house call, or car call, if you will, and have HIM do it on the car. She'll just park the car in front of his shop and let him do it there. This type of stuff is dirt-cheap in Brazil compared to the US. He does great work. He replaced a zipper on a beloved leather shoulder bag for $10.

Oh well, it's aggravating at the time but the product is good. I think he just needs to be upfront with his lead times and his shipping schedule. I don't mind waiting but that wasn't even close to the "10 days" he quoted.

And the bulk hand sanitizer is my wife's doing. Between 3 little kids in the truck and a love for old (sometimes) grungy antiques – a big bottle of "liquid clean" comes in handy.

Jimi is a fastidious frog with impeccable cleanliness though... :D

That looks waaay better than my wheelskins cover and i thought that looked really good. Your the installation and stitching turned out great, if you never said anything, I would have thought it was factory.

I have to say I'm liking it more and more too. The leather is about as close to OEM as you can get. It does not feel "aftermarket" at all. If I didn't know any better I would think it was factory too.

There is definitely a learning curve with this stuff and I'm pretty sure if I were to do it again it would go faster and look a lot better as far as how and where I tied off the thread ends.
 
VERY NICE. Great writeup with all the Creeperisims one would except in a Creeper writeup. Looks OEM to me which is right up my alley. Mine's not in to bad of shape yet but I would like to try my hand at this.
I didn't see where you mentioned the company that provided the kit. Mind sharing?

Nice Job! It does look better and more factory than the wheelskins. On the other hand I never took the wheel off for the wheelskins and it took me about an hour with the ac on and the tunes cranking. I don't blame you for not doing all that stitching next to Jimi, probably a little too close to home for him.

That reminds me though, I need to stitch up Jimi's eyelid. He said he was in a fight down in Austin at a Willie Nelson concert awhile back. Something about some Horny Toad trying to get frisky with his girlfriend at the time. Idk ... :shrug:

I hope Jimi went to the toad ER and got fixed up. As a hood ornament he would be menacing to all on the road.

He stays inside where the A/C blows cold. Plus he doesn't like the wind blowing his eye flap around; says it's annoying and sounds like a playing card stuck in the spokes of a Huffy.

He has an appointment with the plastic surgeon soon...
 
Did my yearly AC condenser cleaning.

Cleaning your AC condenser helps your AC run more efficient and also is said to lower pressure in the compressor — which means your AC will last longer.

Regardless, cleaning the AC condenser is simple, cheap, and effective.

Home Depot sells cans of AC Safe for about $6.

Simply spray it into the condenser, let it foam up and push out all the dirt and bug guts – then simply spray it down with LOW pressure water from your hose or spray nozzle at the carwash after 5-10 minutes.

Mine isn't too dirty because I clean it yearly, but for those who rarely or never clean the condenser — you will see a lot of crap come out the bottom. First time I did it, it looked like a pile of sand and bug corpses on the ground beneath the condenser when I was done.

Damn.... one more thing to add to this "maintenance year". And being in Alaska I'm afraid to see the mosquitos that would come out of it!!

Don't I know it! When I was a kid I lived up there (briefly) in Cooper Landing. One day I was fishing on the Kenai when I thought a cloud had passed over head and blocked out a little sunlight – but when I looked up I realized it was a massive wall of mosquitoes headed towards me.

The Creeper wasn't creepin that day – I ran like a wuss.

Thinking of going there today for a day of hiking! Closest place around here to get me to some mountains.....

I guess the Creeper didn't have any bud on him that day to slow those mosquitoes. :biggrin2:
 
I live in the Sierra know. I spent two years in college at Uni of AK Fairbanks. People around here love to complain about the skeeters. I just laugh. I've seen skeeters so thick in AK that it reminds of this. Same music but skeeters replace the choppers. lol
