Stripped screw on MAF sensor...

I'll give that a try. I'm up for any options right now. :(

I did try a smaller drill bit to give something for the screw extractor to bite to and I broke the bit. :( Maybe I can get this to work. Sure seems like it would. I don't care if the MAF needs to be cleaned or not anymore! It's me vs the screw at this point and I can't let the screw win! ha
 
If you want to use a Dremel to cut a slot in it, you could remove the airbox, can't remember if you did that yet, and cut a slot in the head as well as through some of the plastic surrounding the MAF.

I have thought of that and I might have to do that. But right now, I'm trying everything else I can that doesn't harm the MAF or it's housing before I resort to that. Thanks for the idea though.
 
Also if the superglue didn't work for you try some JB Weld or an epoxy instead of a Cyanoacrylate based "super glue".
 
Well I finally got it off last night!!! I was finally able to get the screw extractor to bite and get it out. Took the MAF off and glad I did! There wasn't much build up on the two wires down inside the tube (although I really noticed a difference in the color of them after they were cleaned), but the one larger sensor that looked kind of like a match head was really dirty! Got them all cleaned then let them dry and put them back in. Ran much better! What RPMs should my 2001 Sr5 (V6) be idling at? It reduced the RPMs quite a bit and I was just wondering. All-in-all it seemed much smoother.
 
I used an easy out to remove the brass screw and then changed both out for steel allen screws. Much easier to remove to clean the MAF.
 
Facing this issue on the 4Runner right now where one of the screws stripped. I will give the superglue trick a shot first but I don't think it will remove it so I will just have to drill and extract it.

For others that might read this for fighting these issues....one thing to note, is even though they might look like standard small phillip head, they are actually JAS....a slightly differet Japanese "phillips head" . Learned this from one of timmys videos.
Als0 some of you might have seen those impact drivers you hit with a hammer, well at the stores they are 3/8 drive or 1/2 inch drive, but you can also find them in 1/4 drive I got mine on flea-bay. Got years ago doing elecctronic repairs that had stripped screws. That with the JAS bits has helped me a lot and now sometimes if I get one little hint of the screw not turning I grab those. It saved my butt on a throttle body repair and pullilng off a rear wiper blade.
Wont help if its already stripped.

JIS cross-head. JIS just means Japanese Industrial Standard.

I use them on all my Japanese vehicle "philips" screws these days. No reason to damage fasteners...

I also wanted to recommend the JIS cross head screwdriver for "Phillips" screws. It has come in very handy and peace of mind they won't strip.
