Subwoofer Box Question

jl woofers do sound better when the box is a little bit bigger then the recommended air space. that why u build the 1.25 box and then add a layer of polyfill to give it a deeper tone.

You've got to be careful when you start adding polyfill or increasing airspace beyond the recommended specs, especially with low powered subwoofers, the added airspace makes the backpressure against the sub less, which means the sub will need less power to reach maximum excursion (throw) and the suspension of the sub can bottom out more easily even on rated RMS power.

Bottoming out can lead to torn spiders or tinsel leads, which basically means your sub is junk.

i know, thats why i suggest a small layer, like 20 inch by 10 inch, can change the way itll sound.
