Well just got back from an actual locksmith. It wasnt a burr, they cut it way to deep on one side. The locksmith said my key is useless now. It sucks cause it programmed and it works fine, but one turns when inserted one direction.
I called Sears about the issue and spoke to a manager who proceeded to tell me they weren't liable because I didnt buy the key from them. She went off on me about how her employees told me that they couldnt do it because it is a chipped key and that I "Made" them do it. Needless to say I called their corporate about it afterwards. So hopefully they will be buying me a new one.
Until then I have a key that only half works. Im thinking about just ordering an actual factory Toyota key instead. This one does feel kinda cheap, and the casing on mine does not snap shut all the way on one side. There little chip thing inside it sticking up too high for it to close all the way.

if you have the same FCCID as i do ill send you my extra one, its uncut. Mine dont feel cheap at all. Since i worked in parts for Toyota i couldnt tell a difference. I even went back to my old dealership to get it traced, i asked my friend to tell the difference who has worked in parts for 15+ years. he couldnt tell which was which.

If you want to let that key go I will gladly pay for it. I was going to order from that link you sent me but I only want 1 key and don't really need 2. If not its no big deal.

Just got mine in and tried it on my 03 SR5. The remote programmed fine, but I wasn't able to get the immobilizer programmed with the instructions given. The light was blinking 2-1 which, from the pdf, simply means registration has failed but I'm not sure what for. Tried it about 4 or 5 times and waited up to 2+ minutes. Kind of bummed

mine took two times to take and i waited a LONG time until that light turned off. I'd try a few more times.

I waited about 10 min this time, still no love. I might have gotten a dud
each time did you happen to do the whole process each time? or just do the programming then do the immobilizer?
I've had bad luck with those style of keys. My old Lexus key fob had the buttons just like that, and they just didn't stand up to how often you would have to turn the key. The plastic would start cracking at where the key itself meets the plastic. I would then superglue it, then that would last awhile longer, then start cracking somewhere else. Eventually I'd have to replace it. I went through all 3 dealer keys within 5 years or so.

And even tried erasing all the master keys and doing it again.
Pretty sure I am following directions correctly since the immobilizer light is flashing or not flashing when it is supposed to except when trying to program the new key, it flashes twice quickly and then once and does that over and over.
UPDATE: The red hold ''panic'' button does not seem to work like my old fob. I press and hold it and it only beeps once. Anyone have any idea as to what the issue is? Fob or programming error? I really don't use the panic button that often but it is handy when I'm looking for my 4Runner in a large airport parking lot.
