Sunroof Noise

I know this has been discussed on here somewhere but can't seem to find it. Just noticed that when my sunroof is tilted up in the back that there is a clicking noise. Very annoying. I had a similar issue with my 4th gen. How do you get to the tracks to grease them with the trim piece in place?

The ribbed trim just pulls off. I tore mine down to find the creak. I pulled the glass out and found the sides to be misaligned. While realigning them I found that it is the rubber belt that creaks and needs lubed. You can do that without removing the glass. Just remove the ribs and look towards the two rear corners. You'll be able to see the belt inside the track. The drivers side will show ribs and look like a timing belt and the passenger side will be soild. I sprayed that down while moving it and I've been squeak free for 500 or so miles.

I wish I would have done a write-up for it but I was going in blind and had no idea if it was actually going to fix it and for how long it would stay quiet.

I never got that thread...my sunroof opens the whole way. It does have an issue with losing it initialization though. :shrug:
