super small oil leak.

You will risk more damage to this and other stuff by letting a mechanic poke around and mess with it.

Since your under warranty, i would at least bring it in to the dealer to have it documented. That way, when it gets bigger, there will be no questions. Where is that? Oil pump?

Some corner of the valve cover I would guess... Unfortunately that barely qualifies as anything according to Toyota ("Seepage" and "Leak" are very strictly reviewed from a warranty standpoint in terms of claims submitted from my experience), but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to at least have it noted in the history.

To the OP, is it at all possible that it is just residual oil from an oil change that has been seeping? Even a few small drops can spread out pretty good when its nice and hot (I realize you said you cleaned it before, but just wondering.)

Why on earth would you NOT take it in? At a minimum get it reported and documented while you're in wty. Whatever it is will never get better, but could get worse.

In your last pic it appears to have migrated to the cover below.

These are the factors that would play into my decision: How long would it take? Do they offer free loan cars? Is there a 100% guarantee that this will stop the leak in one shot? Do I want someone taking apart any part of my factory built engine?

There isn't any way I would take this in if it were mine. There probably aren't even too many dealerships that would fix this unless they routinely push the limits of warranty. If you're going to take it in to get it documented, you might as well just have them fix it if you want to be with your vehicle for a few days. If it gets to a point and youre slightly out of warranty, and it gets WAY worse, their toyota warranty rep would have to decide if theyre going to pay for part or all of the repair. This decision will be based on your service history; the fact that this was documented a few years prior would be a mute point. I have seen it many times, as I have worked for a dealer (not Toyota) for nearly 5 years in service... If the minor seeps develop into puddles on the ground outside of your warranty your saving grace would be consistent service records with ONLY Toyota dealerships.

I worked for a dealer that also sold Jaguars. The tech came back from a school and they taught him the phrase controlled seepage. Jaguar told him they wouldn't even fix small leaks at the time since it was fruitless anyway. So the phrase controlled seepage was our catchphrase for years to come.

I'm not that worried about it. I will keep an eye on it and if it's worse then I will have them look at it. I buy toyota for the resale since I don't keep cars that long anyhow. I'm starting to get bad luck though. First the camry needs a new engine now this!
