Supra725 Build Thread

since school is off for another 2 weeks.. I went to walnut creek earlier in the week and picked up an set of Yakima Powderhound for my rig.. it was hard to beat $40 dollars and was brand new in box..

touched up the wheels, cleaned her up..

also.. she turned over to 280k yesterday..

so did a some maintenance for the rig.

changed the oil.. went with Mobil 1 5w30 and an wix 51842 filter

lubed the drive shaft

changed the air filter..

looked at the frame and for an 15 years old car, she doesn't look too bad of an shape at all.

an while back at an Halloween party..

I met an gal at the party and over the weekend, me and her went to have brunch...

While we were having brunch, she asked me what i drove.. I told an an 99 4runner.. her reply, gtfo.. I had an 96 4runner before someone totaled it.. now, she wants me to bring it by next time i see her.. what an small world...

sorry for the updates guys..

work+ school is killing me.. had 4 midterms last week and then i have 3 more finals at the end of the month.. looks like i won't be modding anytime soon..

however though... after class i went over to my girl's house.. there was this guy with an lifted FJ and saw my rig.. asked me if the duratrac's were 33's if not 35's.. i told him it was 32's and he was like.. I though it was a lot bigger..

on top of that... touched up the wheel too over the weekend.. .

on an side note.. me and my girlfriend are thinking about going either to Seattle or Socal for spring break.. anyone want to get together and have lunch or something?

Rig is looking sweet man. I definitely feel you on school taking its toll. I hate not being able to dump money into my truck :loco:

thanks bud.. your rig is too mate.

With me and her being in school.. we are both pretty tapped out.. plus with all the quiz, midterms... it beats the crap out of me.

Also with spring break around the corner, me and my girlfriend are debating rather go north and see seattle or go to vegas.. either way... I'm boned.. since I probably end up paying for the trip..

on top of that.. I have family friends coming from over sea, and they would like to towards to west coast also..

I'm going to be broke as hell by the times all the trips happens.. looks like the mod money is going to be gone...

I never saw that number before and so I looked it up. Is this what it looks like and how do you use it?

so tomorrow I have an potential job opening..

if things go well.. I'm thinking about a new car..

I had an chance to drive my friend's 2011 e class diesel and man that thing was fun to drive.. great torque.. tons on luxurious amenities.. it blows my runner out of the water.. is comfortable.. and has plenty of room..

or

should I go for an IS-F instead?

I can get an e class diesel for low 30's but with the IS-F, is mid 30's if not almost 40's.. and that's an car older than the IS-F.. the lexus I been looking is in the 09-10 range vs 11-12 range..

what should i do?

that e class was fun.. having that torque on low end is an ++..

it might.. i always been an fan of the IS series.. ex had an is300 and than another has an is350.. both cars will fun to drive..

downside of the is-f, limited back seat room.. something my girlfriend's friends are not going to like.. this is where the e class shines.. it has so much room..

there are people in the bay selling cls-55 amg's for high 28's.. and that's a lot of car for the money..

Connor,

if no Is or E class.. what would you recommend?

I like diesel's in general. Although it is a BMW, the twin turbo diesel pulls like a freight train. A 2011 BMW 335d would be crazy fast and also at the lower end of your budget, however limited space. Hopefully find one with under 35,000 miles and buy an extended warranty. Or if you want space, a 2011 BMW X5 diesel which has all the space, decent gas mileage, and still pulls like a freight train. The bad part about the Benz and the BMW, they're going to depreciate quickly. The Lexus would probably hold value a little better.

is hard to find one that isn't under 35k miles around here.. most of the ones here are a bit on the higher end side.. The diesel's are.. great torque and yet still have an kick ass mpg... I wish i can say that for our runners but i can't lol.. at most, I can get about 20-21 mpg on the freeway and that's if there is no head wind in the way..

I might go look at some cpo's.. maybe bring the girlfriend along too.. since her beetle is getting old lol..

They do, my friend's diesel was almost like half off and is only 3 years old.. an $60k car for half the price..

Most of the IS I'm looking are higher than the diesel.. even for an 08-09.. is $33-$35k and I can get an diesel E-class with < 30k miles on it.. is crazy how Lexus holds it value..

so over the weekend.. the CEL came back on and it was the po770 and po770 P..

http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/163358-po770.html

Would it be possible to be change out the oil, flush it, put in new filter.. or do i have to replace the valve? if so, what's the part ## for the transmission filter.. and from my research, everyone recommends the Toyota filter over the aftermarket..

cause today while driving, i notice the rpm didn't go the to 2k when i reached 67 mph.. usually at the speed, my engine would be turning over to 2k.. but today, it was about 2200-2300 rpm..

if not, should i go switch out the solenoid or should i go change the torque converter..
