Sure glad I got Platinum X warranty on 2011 4R

Dealer called and my 4R is fixed and ready to go, ended up replacing entire front differential/axle assembly and left front cv axle to wheel. Said bearings were bad and differential gears had excessive play thus causing noise.
Said this repair was $4200 and my Platinum X warranty covered repairs 100%
I am so glad I spent extra $400 on this warranty at time of purchase.
People tell me that extended warranties are a waste of money on a new Toyota but it sure paid off for me.
Vehicle has 47K and never off road !

$400 is no brainer for additional warranty coverage. I am usually not the one to get extended warranty coverage but for $400 I would.

Usually the Finance Guy at the dealer tries to sell you something for $1800+.

The key is knowing that EW is a high mark-up item, plus you should negotiate it in with the new sale, not with the Finance guy. I did the same as OP, and mine has also >paid for itself.
I'd never pay Toyota list price, but good negotiators can get the EW for half or less.

Service mgr said needle bearing failed on left diff carrier and destroyed left axle.
I always had a noise up front, started @ about 10K mi and after this repair noise is totally gone.

lol, that is your dealer milking the warranty company. The driver side needle bearing is a common issue on all Toyota 8" front clamshell diffs. The fix is a $60 bushing from East Coast Gear Supply and about 90 minutes of labor to install it.

When the noise comes back, just get the bushing, the diff and CV axle are just fine

So you had a noise since about 10k miles, and you got it fixed at how many miles now?

47K mi, Thanks for the tip on the bushing upgrade, i'll wait until it starts thumping again then do the upgrade.
