Suspension and spacer question

Got the OME light duty FJC/T4R lift in yesterday.

Before I install it, I have a brain picker... The OME lift gives the truck a bit of a rake. I currently have a set of Toytec front spacers on it... would it be wise to leave them in and level the front lift?

I've used spacers with lifts before, I can't imagine this being any different, or is there something I'm not considering?

I think you will be pushing your CV joints too much.

You will have ~3.5" total lift, anything over 3" total lift is liable to cause rubbing on your boots and excess stress on your CV joints. You won't know for sure whether it will be a problem on your truck until you get it all together and look at it. It seems like most people that go over 3" total lift have problems w/ their CV joints eventually.

The OME is not an adjustable CO and you will have to completely dissassemble again if your CV angles are bad. If it was mine, I would buy the 1/2" spacers and try those instead - higher likely hood there won't be a problem.

Edit - Keep in mind that when you raise the front w/ the spacers it will cause the back end to sag a little bit, so you will get slightly more than 1/2" rake adjustment w/ a 1/2" spacer.

I wouldn't add the 1 inch spacer it would be a mistake. I have the OME lift with the 6mm/1/4 inch spacer. It lifts the truck between 1/4-1/2 and inch above the 2.5 inch lift. My CV angles are fine and it handles the way I want it to. Here's what I posted in another topic:

So last week I bumped into a guy who was running the exact same setup as I have ome884 up front but also had a 6mm spacer on top giving him about 1/4-1/2 inch of lift on top of his 2-1/2 inch lift. I've always wondered if this was ok to run this setup with stock uca which he had. He had 53,000 miles with no problems at all. After a lot of phone calls/emails. I talked to a couple Toyota techs, one of them a relative and the and the consensus was that the 4runner stock is an extremely capable vehicle but most people throw a lift and replace stock components with "race" components when they never really pushed the vehicle in the first place. I never really wanted to deviate from the stock components just to minimize maintenance and possible failure. The guys over at Equipt have been running a 3 inch OME setup for a while now and they've been over landing for LONG time so I trust their judgement. I think a lot of it has to do with what type of driving you typically do. Most of my off-road driving consists of barreling down dirt roads / beaches and crossing washed out sections which I do 3 days a week.

Are there any aftermarket modified CV boots that we can buy to help us go over 3"? is there such thing? if not.. someone should get rich and make them.... and i'll take a 2% cut for the idea :lmao: just an idea i had.

Generally speaking, once you start getting to the point where you have significant boot rubbing, you are putting significant stress on the CV joints. If you look at the folks that have pushed their suspension lift over 3" and then modified/spread their boots w/ hose clamps to prevent rubbing, they usually start experiencing some accelerated CV joint wear/failures. Rubbing boot fins aren't the problem by themselves - they are an indication that you have pushed the factory design beyond its limits.
