swapping 3rd members

I found a 2nd gen 4runner at the junk yard with the g144 axle code which is the 4.88's. I am currently running 4.10's on my t4r and wanted to know if I understand correctly that the pumpkins are a straight swap front and rear.

Also can I use my stock axles front and rear with the new diffs?

anything 86-95 is supposed to swap.

if you get the front and rears from the one at the junk yard and swap them into yours then yes it will fit. for the rear third you basically just have to make sure the bolts like up. for the front make sure the cv connection is the same. some bolt to the third, some just slide in, but i think those are just on the newer models... i did a f/r diff swap on mine not to terrible long ago

They are all the same and will bolt right up. Just know that if you ever plan to re gear later, you can not re gear the factory 4.88.

Yea I had a factory 4.88 in the front of my old runner for a while. Sheared the ring gear on my v6 third and needed a temp while I waited for new gears.
