Over time I've been adding a decent amount of weight to my front end and am approaching max preload on the driver side coilover. It has got me thinking that I need to swap the stock 650# springs with 700#. Especially since I will be adding a dual battery setup in the near future. I've done coil swaps before on coilovers but it appears the Icons are a bit different than your standard design.
Has anyone on here done this yet? If so can you confirm that these are the steps to do it? Is there anything else I should look out for?
Steps to Swap Out the Spring in an Icon Coilover
1. Back the preload collar all the way out so there is no preload on the spring
2. Remove the coilover from vehicle
3. Compress the spring to remove the load off the shock
4. The bucket on the bottom can now twist and align with the lower shaft and drop right out
5. Release compression and remove the original spring
6. Compress the new spring and install on the shock
7. Install the lower bucket back on and twist to lock it in place. Ensure to keep the opening in the coil seat 180° from the open end of the coil spring.
8. Release the compression on the spring
9. Reinstall the coilover onto the vehicle
