Switch A Ball for towing?

Anyone use a switch a ball for towing? Are they secure? It seems odd that the ball just twists and slides on.

I have had a car trailer break the stud on a standard hitch ball. Thankfully I know how to properly set up safety chains and they caught the tongue and held it just enough to let me slow down safely. The risk is not worth the reward of 5 minutes saved in doing it right.

It looks like Walmart still carries them. I found one in my garage today. I think it was part of the Hidden Hitch package I bought for a Jeep years ago and never used. Alright, I'll pick up a regular ball.

Thanks, that looks pretty solid. I found something similar on Amazon that appears solid and also has a hook (yarghhhh).

Just keep two different mounts with you. There's already enough variables to contend with while towing, don't add one more.
