Synthetic Motor Oil for 4.7 V8?

Just switched to M1 full synthetic at around 51k miles.
Going for at least 7.5k OCI now.
The V8 loves M1 - actually it likes all oil as long as its changed regularly.
No. I just use what my metropolis of a Toyota dealership uses every ~5K miles.
Mine's prob the most mint used 4Runner you've ever seen. The V8 feels great!
My other car requires 0-40w synthetic

I have used Mobil 1 5W30 full synthetic oil in my V8 for the last 3 years.
Full synthetic does seem to make a difference for cold weather starting - especially up here where I can experience temperatures down to -30 or -35 Celcius.
Engine seems to turn over much easier with full synthetic. Also, the oil temperature comes up to normal operating temperature quite quickly.

Now that I have the PITA 4.7's oil to change I switched to sythetic. Always wanted to anyway, but really didn't want to be dropping the skid plate every couple months. I've run Penzoil Platinum 5w30 for 5500 miles w/ no problems. I'm now running Royal Purple, but will be switching back to the PP next time due to the low cost and availability from Wally World. Any fully sythetic along w/ a good filter and you should be able to get 6k miles or better w/o any trouble. I'll have to admit I'm lazy and have not sent any oil off for testing, but I'm confident any of them should be fine for our 4.7's. The extra cost is well worth it for me to be able to comfortably stretch the change interval out a touch longer than w/ standard oil. At one point I wanted to get the best of the best, but after comparing cost and reading a bit online, I'll go w/ the less expensive but still good quality sythetics. Same here. Running fully sythn. for 2 years. I let it go 7,000 to 8,000 miles. I change it when it looks dirty, which just depends on how much wheeling in the dirt I have done. The last change was at just under 7,500 miles and it looked only half way dirty. I've done little to no wheeling...stupid job interfering with my social life. Still had a little bit of a golden glow to the oil. I'll dump a bottle of Lucas Oil engine cleaner, let that run for a bit, and let it all drip out. I dribble a little bit of fresh oil in, and wait for that to run out. Anyway, I make sure to get as much of the used oil as as I can. I use the M1-Lucas Oil-Royal Purple (whatever is the best price at the time), and a quart of the Lucas Oil synth. additive bottle. And stock Toyota filters. Running fully synth in the diffs too, plus the AFE air filter and the deleted resonator....If I'm well behaved on the verticle pedal...I can get her to run 18.4 mpg. About 360 miles to the tank. Again, only if I'm good or that will go down to 330-340 miles. Last fill up, 349 miles to the tank. Must of been naughty too much.:witch:

I run synthetic engine oil and synthetic oil in the diffs and transfer case. If I change my transmission oil I will probably go synthetic.

Make sure you get WS certified stuff unless yours is an 03 in which chase Dex type IV works.

From your avatar it looks like you have a newer V8. If so, you already have synthetic trans fluid and no service is required. But if you feel the need use this. Has been proven to hold up better then OEM. (Used in 600+ HP IS-F)

I've run many cars over 200k without ever opening the engine, on Mobil1 15W50 (what they now call "Extended Performance", not the cheapened Mobil1). I now run Shell Rotella T6 Synthetic, it's a little cheaper at WalMart and I get less oil leaks on my older vehicles. Some say it's better oil, either one is great.

I am running the Mobil 1 brand in the appropriate fluids in the crankcase, differentials and transfer case.
I change the crank oil every 10,000 miles, and to be honest, it looks nearly new when it comes out.
I have been using M1 in all my vehicles (including my boat) since 1994. My top-mileage vehicle was a 98 GMC Jimmy with over 260,000 miles. It still ran great, used no oil and was very dependable.
I sold it to Obama for $4,500.
