T-case Differences (all years of 3rd gens).. transfer case, AWD, multi-mode

Hi, I'm converting 2WD 2002 Sequoia into 4x4. Will go with A340F transmission. I'm planning on using simplest J-shifter transfer case - "96-00 SR5s and 5 speed models"

Now, is that transfer case called VF2A? I'm asking because 2007+ FJ Cruisers also have VF2A transfer case but FJ Cruisers have different transmission - A750F 5-speed automatic. FJ Cruiser's transfer case WILL NOT bolt onto my A340F 4-speed automatic transmission.

Also, do you know of any rebuild kits for that transfer case? I'm afraid 24+ year old transfer case from a junk yard may need a refresh, bearings or maybe even gaskets.

Has anyone gone the other way? im looking at diesel swaping my 4runner and not sure how the electronic actuator would work with no imput from the transmission or the motor as the motor would be stand alone as well as the transmission with being an automatic? or dose that even matter for the transfer case?

Study those diagrams... The multi-mode case (and earlier push-button case) have their own ECU. As long as you can satisfy the inputs to the TC computer, you don't need anything else.
