So I have put new zip ties on my shocks to hold the rubber boot up several times and they always fall down. Drives me crazy! Well now they fell down and filled up with sand and water so they were a frozen ball! So I cut them off, stupid things! Grrr

Christmas came early, my new flange came in the mail early!! Wasn't due til Monday. All installed, time to go for a test drive.



I was looking around and ran across this build! I wish I had half this guys tech knowledge on my truck!!

Some days I hate my life. Put the new (used) 3rd member in and started my truck. I put it in gear and the rear driveshaft just spins and you can hear the gears barely make contact....ugh!! :Cry:

F&$% it! I'm ordering a new one from East Coast Gear Supply. I wish I had the money to re-gear but for $1900 it's not going to happen right now. I wish I could afford a locker at the least, or had a garage to work in so I could buy the E-locker and retrofit. Damn this is so bad timing!

Thanks man, I tried talking the ol' lady into letting me just do gears all around and be done, but with Christmas it's not happening. I should've just done this in the first place, but like I said, wrong time of year for it.

Damn that sucks bro.. sorry to hear... Did you contact the party you purchased the 3rd member from? Or at least ECGS? And you are absolutely Correct, With Christmas around the corner... Crap seems to pile up at the most inconvenient times, sometimes... :moping:

Ya I put in for a return due to broken part. I can't think of anything I could've done wrong, pretty basic really. Pisses me off and bum's me out man!

Pulled the used 3rd member I bought out and inspected it. Turns out the teeth on the pinion shaft where the flange slides on were about gone. This was letting the flange spin without engaging the gears... I returned it and the guy tried to tell me there was nothing wrong with it that you can't put a 3rd member from a different year toyota in a 4th gen. Lol, they are all the same from 1988-2010! Only difference is the older 4cyl ones used smaller ring that wasn't as strong, but it will still bolt in. Then you get the flange you need from somewhere like East Coast Gear supply, put it on and DRIVE! SMH. Will be ordering the new unit from ECG in the next few days.

Thanks! It's so weird driving my truck again after so long driving the Camry! I feel like I'm in a Monster Truck!! I really like pulling up to new Fords and Chevy's and looking down into their windows. Buahahahaha :caked:

Funny you mention that because even with my oem suspension height, I tend to feel like a monster truck after driving our cars/wagons..
