I managed to take a look at the TSB a member had commented on before in regards to a warranty claim he was having issues. I couldn't find the thread; I assume it was removed due to a combination of the OP's additude and other member's responses. In any case, I still wanted to post the information for anyone who may run into a similar situation in the future; this only covers the 2010 model year, but I suspect it will still apply to most 5th gens.

Thanks for posting that. I'm assuming the manufacturing problem has been remedied since the TSB was issued but I thought this was curious:

"This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date."

Seems odd to me. I mean, the defect could occur out of warranty. What then? Why wouldn't the TSB cover after the warranty period seeing as how the problem is still caused by the same defect?

That and TSBs don't cover anything; the technical term for the warranty portion of the TSB (IF there is one) is a "warranty enhancement)

And while they may have corrected it in later models, I have a feeling they just haven't had a significant number of complaints in their eyes to update the TSB.

Makes sense to me. So the OP that had that out of warranty problem is probably still going to have to pay for the repair out of his pocket.

Dealerships don't generally advise owners of TSB's do they? They're not required to either, right? Unless it's a safety issue?

He had the platinum extended warranty and it was still in effect.

I don't think they have to inform us of TSBs. Seems to me like TSBs are never a safety issue. It's not a major problem, but an issue they are nonetheless willing to recognize. And it's not the same thing as a recall.

I brought my 4R in for hazy headlamps to 2 different dealers. Both service writers acknowledged the problem and were willing to take care of it. But in both cases, the attitude I was felt from the Service writer was as if they were doing ME a favor. I printed the TSB out and brought it in. One guy even asked me where I got this information. When I told him a buddy told me about it, he said: "it's all about who you know I guess." The heck.

Driver seat back

I wonder if somethings going on with my driver seat back, '10 LE. When I stop I swear something is lose inside the seat and it gently taps the middle of my back. It's like something is flopping around in there. Maybe if they replace the whole seat back it will fix this. Hmm...
