That is exactly how I see it too. Sometimes I think I should just leave the doors unlock for if you are going to steal anything, at least don't break my windows.

I had an alarm in my '96 4Runner, and the only time it ever went off was when the battery in the remote died and I had to open the truck with the car keys. Both times it was in public parking lots, and no one came running to see if I was stealing the vehicle.
Heck, even I think "first day with the new alarm" every time I hear one going off...
I opted not to get the alarm with my new '04. I don't leave valuables in the truck. If someone tries to steal it, it's got an engine immobilizer. If they do manage to swipe it, I've got insurance.
