T4R First-Aid

I recently posted a picture of a first aid kit that I made to keep in the back of my T4R so I am always ready when need be. A few members thought it was a good idea, and I figured this is something that could help EVERYONE!!! You dont need to be an EMT to know how to treat a basic wound, and with a little reading you can learn how to look the signs and symptoms of a bigger emergency. Remember, if its serious, always call 9-1-1 or head to the closest emergency room.

Heres the (a little more than) Basic First-Aid kit I created.

I used a Pelican 1300 case (without foam) and stocked it with the following items.

Nice, I use a bag from SO tech that fits everything I need and is easier to grab and carry than a hard side case. Makes it much easier to carry to the patient. set our bags up similar to what we carried on the box

I was at a gun show in Vegas and they had a booth for first aid supplies. They had a kit that was very similar to what the fire dept had and the only thing that was missing were IV and needles. The kit went for $400. I might just pick one up next time they come around

I made mine for a LOT less!!! The Most expensive part was the case ($39.00 at B&H photo). I used a few websites to order supplies and have excess. I used DixieEMS.com for the bulk of it and a few other sites for odds and ends.

Yeah when the stuff I have on order comes in I think I'm going to have to remove the upper foam, that didn't come with the case but came with another pelican I have. Unfortunately we have to buy in bulk to get good prices on this stuff, but at least you'll have a back stock to resupply, or help out a friend! I ended up having enough to make another smaller kit for my wife's car (pelican 1200). Can't wait to see pictures!!

Are the tweezers and the Scissors you used quality? If so which site did they end up coming from?
The ones I have for my kit are bottom shelf quality, and I'd like to up grade. Is it probably best to go to target(or other terrible big box store) and get good tweezers there?

The trauma shears I have are pretty good. Haven't put them to use yet but I was able to cut a 12ply gauze with it. The tweezers I have are from the pharmacy and are nice. I think the brand is TWEEZERMAN. I have a set I picked up at the hospital on a run and they aren't so great.

Ps. I guy I run calls with has the Leatherman Raptor trauma shears. They are awesome. And $70!

That's hard because some of the stuff I had. And other stuff I had to buy in bulk. Which for me wasn't a bad thing since I was going to make one for my wife's car. I would say it's around $60 for supplies with extra and the case was about $40. So all in you'd be right around $100.

I use leatherman raptor shears at work during trauma shifts. They're definitely worth the extra money

If you haven't heard of QuikClot I would highly recommend some for your kit. Its a hemostatic bandage that uses zeolite to clot three times faster, and man do they really work. Search youtube for some videos and do some reading, its a remarkable product. I always have some in my car kit, boat kit, and probably most importantly my shooting bag! It comes in a variety of shapes and forms. I like having both the gauze formulation and one or both of the sponge sizes. Its pretty easy to use and can stop a life threatening bleed temporarily until you have better options.

Hey [MENTION=91438]VT245[/MENTION] I have heard of quickclot but I've never had the chance to use it but I've seen plenty of demos on it. My brother has some in his shooting bag, being a Veteran he knows all about it. I decided for the Celox granules because it can get a little deeper into the wound as research has shown me. But all in all a very important thing to have!!
