T4R mods

so ive got a totally stock 2001 T4R sr5, i was wondering if there are any must need mods, anything that i should do to her right away.thanks

nope, we dont mod our rigs here, we keep them stock. that way we dont void the warranty, and they last longer. modifying a vehicle will get you in trouble with the police and insurance companies too... keep it 100% stock/factory
 
replace your air intake silencer with a straight pipe. Its this big black thing that you will find along the hose running out of the filter. I bought some metal pipe from the auto parts store and cut and fit it myself. cost like 8 bucks. it will add a little hp and torque but it can sound loud sometimes (and not in a cool way) but it ads a little umph when you're driving. also, reset your efi/fuel pump relay (they're the same thing). detach the negative terminal from the battery and then find the relay in your fuse box. its a big bulky square (not a fuse). leave it out for like 20 minutes (go inside and watch a little tv) then plug it back in and re attach the terminal. it's free and helps on down the road (although it may seem like the engine is operating slower at first). it will be worth it in a couple of months once the cpu gets used to how you drive. :cheers:
 
check out the 4runner buyers guide. it goes more in depth on those mods and explains a couple of others. those were the two i could come up with off the top of my head. body lifts aren't that expensive either (around $100) and can give you a little extra clearance for bigger tires. it all depends on how much time/money you're willing to invest. yotatech might have some stuff too.

Sounds about right, I hang around here talking about our stock runners all day long.

Don't do this. It's called the ISR mod. It sounds cool, but it hurts your performance and efficiency. Also don't do the deck plate mod for the same reasons. Focus on maintenance first. Is your timing belt, water pump, etc. etc. all up to date? Fix anything else that's not working exactly like you want it to, then focus on things that make it do what you want it to do. If you want it to look cool and sound cool in parking lots, get 285s and do the mods I just suggested not doing. Otherwise tires, lift, racks, interior storage, etc. to your desired ends.
 
I agree with spectre6000. Focus on preventative maintenance and any parts that are aging. If your around 100,000 miles or higher and everything is factory, commit to replacing belts, starter, alternator, battery, wiring, air filter, sensors and other various parts that go over 100K.
Remember that big tires and flashy rims look nice, but when your broken down in your driveway, there's really no "wow factor".

First mod should always be a snorkel.

The second mod should be to fit 37's on it.



But seriousy. it is your truck, Do what you want not what someone tells you to do.

OIF, The first mod should be a V8 swap.
