T4R5G TRD Off Road Premium: Ignition Fuse(s)

Hello.

I have searched in the owner's manual and cannot find any information on the type of fuses used in the box at the driver side, on the inside the vehicle. I am in search of specs for the ignition fuse because I want to augment one of those add-a-circuit fuse attachments for a dual battery setup with the Redarc BCDC1225D.

So I decided to take the cover off and to pull one the fuse out to physically measure it. I was surprised that Toyota did not leave a fuse remover in the box, and the fuse remover I have is too large for these fuses. I was also surprised there are three ignition fuses.

Does anyone here know what is going on, where the fuse puller might be, why there are three fuses, what the fuse specs are (I suspect a mini fuse), and what add-a-fuse device would actually work on this tiny little tightly packed fuse box?

Get yourself a multimeter and start poking around. I'm using an empty fuse slot that just so happened to be ign on. Pull them out with some needle nose pliers. They also make low profile fuse taps.

and no you will not be able to put the cover back on with the fuse tap.

Thanks for the note. I do have a few MM's and it sounds like I need to find my own proper location that is powered only when the ignition is fully on.

The link you provided, is this the product that fits in the fuse box I referenced?

For anyone venturing on with the same question:

[1] the ignition fuse is the one marked IGN NO2. It is totally possible that the fuse box may not be consistent across all the 5 Gen's.

[2] Beware a fuse puller is not included in the fuse box. The fuses are mini fuses and barely have a place to grab and pull put. Use long nose pliers and pull on one side of the fuse and then on the other side and it will soon come off.

The mini fuse puller should be attached to the lid on the main fuse/relay box under the hood ,drivers side.

Well, if it is then is it so small that it cannot even be seen I looked for it everywhere. I have pictures posted to this thread too.

This actually is the very first time I have adventured in this area. My car has only been out for regular maintenance once or twice since I bought it just inside the pandemic. So, no, I don't think anyone would have had a reason to be involved with that area. It does bugle the mind though - why would they not include a fuse puller.

I did a search and apparently "if there isn't one", then we are supposed to look in the main fuse box for a puller.

If you can't close the fuse box lid after putting on the add-a-fuse, is there anything wrong with that? Any solution? Do you guys just use electrical tape or velcro tape and get it as closed as possible?

There is a fuse box extension available; it is 3D printed. I just put one on my 4Runner.
