I was planning on doing this swap on my stock 2007 SR5. I was wondering how much everyone was paying for their used Tacoma front struts and rear shocks? I find a local set and I'm not sure if it is a good deal. Link below.

I recently found a set of 2013 Tacoma TRD springs with 5K on them.

Have a quick question about the install.

I read a lot of post and watched a few videos, but they're all trying to do the job without a spring compressor by taking off the knuckle and using a floor jack to decompress the spring.

My question is, can you remove the strut/spring/shock assembly without compressing it or do you need to compress it just to make it small enough to get out?

If i can get the strut out with out compressing the unit then its worth it for me to pay a shop 20$ to take apart and reassemble the shock / spring. Seems like trying to save a few dollars on a spring compressor turns this into a 6 hour job.

I find it easier to just pull out and change everything on the bench personally. Once you take off the 2 bolts that hold the lbj assembly on it pops right out with a little down pressure on the lca.

After about a week of driving, I've noticed that the ride is actually "floaty" and less firm than my XREAS was. Granted, my XREAS system wasn't dead yet, but I figured from what everyone was saying in this thread that it would at least somewhat as firm as the XREAS.

Does that sound off? Anyone else have similar experiences?

By any chance did you have your T4r aligned yet? I just put an OME 3" lift on mine and I haven't been able to get castor in spec. This will and does create a floaty feel from time to time.

Thanks for the advice guys. I was able to pick them up for $120. I plan on installing them in about two weeks. I will post before and after pictures when finished.

It's been aligned. It was all kinds of messed up before it was aligned. I have the Daystar 2.5/1.5 on mine and Firestone seemed to align it just fine.

I picked up 2015 TRD Sport shocks and front coils yesterday. I'm going to buy the KYB SM5640 Strut Mounts and assemble the front struts off the vehicle. Problem is, every website is saying the KYB SM5640 Strut Mount doesn't fit the 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport, but it fits the 2014, and obviously a 4th gen 4runner.

Am I fine or did I buy the wrong year Tacoma suspension? I was under the impression 2014 and 2015 were the same.

Lastly, the rear bushings I need are the Energy Suspension 9.8108G 3/4" Hourglass Shock Eye Bushings, right? I have FJ rear springs already.

update: I think I'm fine, going to go ahead and order those strut mounts even though they say they don't fit, guessing they just haven't updated their catalog yet. Somebody else ran 2015 MY suspension too. 2016 model year would likely be a different story.

Any updates? I thinking about going to the tacoma trd lift route since I am looking for around 2 inch lift in the front. Cam across a set of tacoma trd 2015 takeoff suspension without top hats so also wondering does the 4runner/fj top hats will fit?

No update yet, sorry. I did buy the t4r/FJ moog tophats off amazon so I could assemble them ahead of time and have fresh rubber up top. I will let you know if they fit on the taco springs when I get them assembled. No ETA on that though.

I am worried about rubbing and considering adding 1/2" toytec front spacers in front and the OME 10mm(.39") rear spacers to add a little more lift and level it out even just a bit more. I don't want to buy UCA's though, and that's getting up there, about 2.75" or so in front I would think.

TRD Progressive Off Road Coil PN's & Color Codes?

Looks like if you want to buy just the front coils there's about 20+ variations depending on whether the Tacoma is 2x4 or 4x4, reg, extra or double cab and whether it has the sport, off road or air suspension.

If the Tacoma stuff is anything like the Tundra stuff there's a bit of variation on the coil rates ie: length and color codes but on a 3rd gen you could run the reg, extra and double cab coils.
Does anyone have the toyota PNs and color codes for the reg, extra and double cab TRD 4x4 off road coils? TIA...

In case anyones interested here are the PNs & color codes for the TRD Off Road coils

Front Left / Driver's side - P/N # 48131-AD231 - Pink/White
Front Right / Passenger's side - P/N # 48131-AD221 - Orange/White

I run those tires no problem after just the Tacoms fronts and stock rear springs. No problems with rubbing

TRD/FJ Coils Lift Yield

going to swap out current F and R coils for new TRD front and used FJ 4x4 rear coils. Ive read that the TRD coils on the OE bilsteins can yield up to 2"s of lift. Could i gain any more lift since im installing new TRD coils that have never been compressed and will be mounted on 5100s? I've also read that i can expect between .25 and possibly 1" with the Fj 4x4 coils. Could the lift be more than that if im installing with 5100s in the rear? Im striving for 1.75 -2" front and 1" rear level or slight back to front rake lift. Should i consider using some trim packs in the rear to ensure this lift? TIA
