Tacoma vss wiring help

I recently wired in a Tacoma vss in an attempt to eliminate the p0500 cel IÂ’ve been getting from having no abs, my abs ecu is unplugged and my speedometer works but the cel still comes on.

I used the instructions in this thread
3rd gen 4runner/ functioning speedo without wheels speed sensors | Pirate 4x4

Only thing I did different was disconnect the abs ecu and instead of splicing into the grey wire with blue stripe in the cluster I cut it and connected the vss wire to it. My rear wheel speed sensors are still connected.

I have been getting a correct speed reading through a scanner in the obd2 port but on occasion it will show 0mph while IÂ’m traveling down the highway, the speedometer in the gauge cluster always works perfectly. The vehicle is a 97 and I have the wiring diagrams if anyone wants to see them

I believe the issue is a loose connection at the ecu plug from when I repinned my harness for the 5 speed swap.

I used a plug from the harness donor and it was depinned by a gorilla aka me so the pin was loose in the plug

You know its best to be as careful as possible with those plugs. You can't be a gorilla with them as it's only plastic.

Since you connected the "pre-cluster" VSS wire and your cluster works, the problem is between the cluster and the ECU. I would suspect your issue is at the ECU connector, as you thought...

Are those wiring diagrams still available?

Randy: you mentioned in your great write-up that:

"The vehicle is a 97 and I have the wiring diagrams if anyone wants to see them."

I have a 97 also and would love to see wiring diagrams for the goody ABS system. Mine is suffering from the ABS light on but no speedometer/no odometer problem.

If your offer to share those is still good how can I get them?
