Tail lgiht wire harness #

So I thought my brake light bulb just went out. Turns out the brake light and running light share the same bulb. My lights light up when I step on the bulb, but the running light won't go on. I am assuming its the wiring harness. There are three wires going to the back of that bulb. One is a ground and I am guessing the other two are the running light +voltage and brake light +voltage. So i think thats what my problem is. Does anyone know where I can get a new one of these harnesses?

I need the part number and cant find it anywhere.

They share the same bulb, but they are different filaments. They burn out separately. Did you try a new bulb?

If it is the connector, they can be repaired if you can find the fault. For instance, a new contact and wire for the TAIL circuit can be spliced into your existing connector. But don't go that direction until you have tried a known good bulb (maybe take the other side?) and tested for voltage in the wire. If you do, here is a good DIY:

Note that a new plug housing number is 90980 followed by the five digit number you should be able to find on the plug. It is JUST the plastic housing, no terminals or wires. Toyota does not sell pigtails; you have to buy the housing, plus as many repair wire/terminal sets as you need. You can reuse your old ones if good. If you want the whole Taillight harness back to the first connector, we need to know which side to get the part number, but its a PIA and probably not necessary.

Extremely informative! thanks for the info. I had no idea the bulb actually had two filaments in it. I bought a new one the other day so I will swap it out and check it out to see if that is the case. OH and its the passenger side. Will keep you posted to see if the new bulb works. thanks!
